Hug Me Bunny Lovey

Hug Me Bunny Lovey

I’ve been wanting to release this bunny lovey pattern for quiet some time now. I would work on it for a while, drop it for a few weeks, and pick it back up again. I just couldn’t seem to get it right. After some encouragement from a good friend, I finally just dug in and made it happen! I am so pleased to release this pattern!

This lovey would be a beautiful gift for a new baby, boy or girl.

Rnd 1: Begin with a MR. Ch 3, SC (counts as your first corner). *Ch 1, SC, Ch 2, SC. Repeat from * an additional 2 times. Ch 1. Join with a sl st into your beginning ch 3 space. Pull the MR closed tightly. (4 ch 1 spaces and 4 ch 2 spaces)

Rnd 2:  Ch 3. SC into ch 3 space from previous round (creating your first corner). *Ch 1, SC in ch 1 space from previous round, ch 1, SC in ch 2 space from previous round, ch 2, SC in same ch 2 space from previous round. Repeat from * an additional 2 times. Ch 1, SC in ch 1 space from previous round, ch 1. Join with a sl st into your beginning ch 3 space. (8 ch 1 spaces and 4 ch 2 spaces)

Repeat from * an additional 2 times. Ch 1, SC in ch 1 space from previous round, ch 1, SC in next ch 1 space from previous round, ch 1. Join with a sl st into your beginning ch 3 space. SC around working 1 SC into each SC from previous round and 1 SC into each ch 1 space from previous round, working 3 SC into each ch 2 space (corner), until you reach the beginning of the round. Join with a sl st into the top of your first SC.

Fasten off. Weave in ends.

ASSEMBLY:

Attach bunny ears to top of head.

For girl bunny, sew bow between ears.

Using a light pink or peach yarn, embroider a nose on row 10 over 3 sts.

Attach head to middle of blanket. Be sure to only sew to top loops of blanket to ensure clean look on underside of blanket.

Attach arms to head very closely to blanket.

For boy bunny, sew bow to blanket, closely under front of head.
